Innovative Net Systems did NOT invent the Mini-Missouri Trawl. It was already in use when we happened upon the prime creator, Dr. Dave Herzog on a sand bar in the Missouri River . What he asked us to do was to give it better Net Geometry¹, improve its Fishing Circle, its water flow and toughen the hell out of it.....all things that other net companies could not or would do.
12 years later and INS is THE ONLY shop building and selling the original, catch-all , tough as nails, H.A.T. /Mini-Missouri trawl.
Call it what you want, bragging, boasting or bull $h!t....... but we speak with folks from Asia , South America , Canada and across the USA that use this sampling tool and they ALL had it built here.
A few years back there were a few knock offs floating around . They looked good enough when you pulled them out of the box, but that is where the likeness stopped.
They had the wrong tapers, too lightweight of an outer shell, horrible or non existent net geometry¹. The scientists would tell us they rolled up and twisted, they could not hold bottom and some even flipped upside down due to improper chain bridles on the otter doors.
( Net Geometry is the shape netting takes as it encounters water resistance. It can draft fish inside and down the body or it can repel them from ever entering the net. It can assist in holding the doors at an even and stable spread or it can cause the otter doors to lope along the bottom and skip. Net Geometry is given to the trawl by proper tapering and hanging of the webbing )
Bottom line is that Dr. Dave entrusted us to revamp and beef up HIS creation. We spent several months going over each aspect of the gear and improving its function to the best of our ability.The "others" simply waited and tried to steal copy the design.

An offshoot from the Mini-Missouri trawl is the SIAMESE trawl and the SUPRESSOR TRAWL.
The Mini-Missouri is a dual layered net that separates fish in sizes along the entire length of the net. The Siamese trawl and the Supressor trawl seperate the fish into sizes within the last segment of the body panel of the net and right at the cod end.
All of these nets have the same mesh sizes and operate on the same heavy duty otter doors and bridle systems. All of these gears have our guarantee. The big difference is the ease of handling with the later two gears.
