The Mamou Trawl is a surface trawl. It does NOT sink, nor do the Mullet Doors that spread it and hold it open. This gear is known for taking white bass,small mouth bass, carp,buffalo, crappie, perch, garfish , juvienile paddlefish and an assortment of forage fish. In recent years it has proven invaluable in determing If and WHERE Asian carp have spawned in the backwaters of the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers.
The Mamou can be worked from a small boat with limited hp and NO winch. . . if need be.
The beauty of this gear is that it can float right over most snags and rip -rap. It can go out into the channels and sample were fyke nets and seines can not. It can skim the first 1-3 meters of ANY body of water for surface dwelling or feeding fish.

30' Scalene Mamou x Model 38/4 took over 9K of year 01 Asian Carp in a 10 minute tow over stumps, downed cottonwoods and heavy detritus.
This "specially" built model is designed to sample only 1.5 Meters deep.... making it ideal to tow over the most horrendous snags you can find on bottom.
